If you’re a fan of Napa Valley winemaking history, you will clearly know the name Cathy Corison. Her winemaking cv features names like Freemark Abbey, Chappellet, Staglin, amongst others. Corison Winery was born in 1987 and since then has continued to push at the forefront of sustainability being Napa Green and CCOF Organic certified. Her wines not only represent a true sense of place in the St. Helena AVA, but show balance, restraint, and incredible ageability.

The 2020 Corison Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is a bit of a miracle considering the Glass Fire influence on nearly all Napa red wine produced that vintage. It was picked two and a half weeks before the fires, and protected from ambient smoke as it fermented by industrial-grade air filters. You can read multiple reviews at the link provided, but for me this wine is another example of craftsmanship, stewardship, and perhaps a little luck. Medium to dark garnet featuring dark cherry and cassis on the nose, the palate is silky smooth with lively acidity making it simply mouthwatering and juicy. 50% new oak treatment provides lovely vanilla and spice notes. Highly recommended.
